University of Edinburgh Office of Lifelong Learning

The University of Edinburgh Office of Lifelong Learning offers hundreds of short, part-time courses in our Open Studies programme. Open to all adults over 16, the courses run throughout the year, with sessions starting in September, January and April, as well as a summer programme.

A wide variety of subjects are offered, including archaeology, art history, creative writing, film, history, philosophy, psychology and political studies. You can take a course purely for interest or you can study for academic credit, which can lead to a Higher Education certificate or university entry.

We also offer a part-time Access Course which provides a supported route to university entry and the New Horizons course which reintroduces students to studying in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
